Day 2: 1 John 3:21-22

21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God; 22 and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him…

Day 2: 1 John 3:21-22 // God's heart will always be to bless His people. At creation He chose to form man in His image to show how much he valued what He was creating. In our daily lives we struggle with making decisions according to our own will and plan up against God's. When we read verses like 1 John 3:22 we can tend to get excited about the possibilities of God answering our prayers and meeting our needs according to our wants and desires.

But the heart of this chapter and the whole book of 1 John is love and fellowship with God. So when we read that God will give according to what we ask it comes with parameters that we don't always find to be convenient. In order to access the power and grace of God, we must first get to know Him. And through getting to know Him we establish a relationship that begins to change the way we think and view things.

And with this new mindset prayer turns from a pleading from human desire to a collaboration with the heart of the Father. And when you pray in line with the desires of God then you will receive. And the key for us as believers is truly believing that what God wants is worth praying for. What does God desire for your life today?

Today’s Prayer //
"Father, open my eyes to more of You today.
As I get to know You change my heart to look more like Yours.
I long to desire what You desire.
Bless my time in prayer as I commune with You.
I pray that change would occur because of our fellowship.
In Jesus name, Amen."
